Ultramenfrom Rio Grande do Sul -- the most southern Brazilian state -- rose to fame in the late '90s by mixing different music styles Lidir Etis - Stefan Schmidt (19) / Farang - Uvuch Lirdhira (File, Album) as rock, rap, hardcore, funk and reggae.
This is their third, and perhaps most mature release to date. Concentrating less on heavy guitar sounds and more on melodies and finesse, Ultramen are clearly gravitating towards what they do best.
But as usual with this group like with so many other Brazilian bands appearing in the '90sthe music styles on display on this album are extremely diverse.
Take all those styles mentioned in the first sentence of this review and add a couple of others, such as samba and soul, and you'll get the picture. Having said this, it's hardly a coincidence that the three best tracks of the album are all reggae songs. Especially the upbeat reggae-pop of "Coisa Boa," which has a very appealing melody, rhythm and flow.
